About Personal
Taruvinga Badza is an experienced Agricultural Scientist with a demonstrated history of working in the agricultural sector and institutes of higher learning. Skilled in Sustainable Agriculture, Biosolids/Sludge/Wastewater management in Agroecosystems, Soil nutrient cycling, Crop production, and Agronomy. A strong professional Research Scientist with a Doctor of Philosophy in Agronomy from the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria. Currently, he is a Post-doctoral Researcher at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He is working on various projects in several aspects of sustainable agriculture development and organic waste and wastewater management in agroecosystems. Aspects of important and developed skills include; Circular economy in agriculture, Recovery and reuse of soil nutrients from organic waste, regenerative agriculture, soil health, scaling of circular economy innovations in agriculture, capacity building in agricultural stakeholders, promoting stakeholder engagement and partnership working in circular economy, setting up and management of laboratory, greenhouse, and field trials, field and horticultural crop management, promoting linkages between food systems and organic waste nutrient recovery and reuse, enhancing work on food security issues, farmer advisory and agronomic services, and integrating organic waste and wastewater recycling in crop and tree production toward the enhanced sustainable circular nutrient economy.
In addition, he is a mentor to budding researchers and students taking up agronomic, soil fertility management and crop production courses. More so, he is an author of several scientific papers published in high-impact factor journals, helping in scientific information dissemination and policy formulations around agriculture, environment, and food security issues.
