I have a Master's degree in Biology and Ecology with nature conservation and am for the last 10 years working on the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy, with the focus on the biodiversity, environment and climate related topics - of the current Rural Development Programme of the Republic of Slovenia 2014–2020 (Cross-compliance, Agri-environment-climate payments, Organic farming, Animal welfare and Payments to areas facing natural or other specific constraints) and of the CAP Strategic plan 2023-2027 for Slovenia. In the last 3 years I was preparing the CAP Strategic plan 2023-2027 for Slovenia (SWOT analysis, assessment of needs, intervention strategy, preparation of interventions, building control and sanction system,...). I was responsible for building together CAP Strategic plan 2023-2027 "green architecture" instruments - Conditionality, Eco-schemes and the Agri-environment Climate measures, Natura 2000 payments,...) and for the CAP specific objective f.) Contribute to the protection of biodiversity, enhance ecosystem services, preserve habitats and landscapes. I have expertise in designing and implementing agri-environmental schemes/measures for biodiversity. In the past I was also working as a CAP field inspector and carrying out on-the-spot controls of all area based subsidies, including Agro-Environmental measures, Cross-compliance, farm animal controls and area based subsidies. In 2022 I was freelancing as a nature conservation advisor on the “Results based nature conservation measure of the CAP Strategic plan« in Austria. I was providing expert and technical guidance to farmers to help meet the biodiversity area objectives and corresponding indicators; executing of field visits, on which objectives are defined and evaluated and farmers receive individual expert guidance and mapped grassland habitat types and landscape elements.
Thanks to my gained work experiences, I have the skills to initiate and lead complex policy assignments: author and review complex technical documents, reports and articles; initiate and participate in the set-up of research proposals and experiments; conduct case studies, including field missions, face-to-face interviews and focus groups; and participate in technical discussions with clients and external stakeholders. I can demonstrate strong skills in planning, organising and prioritising when working on several assignments at the same time or under pressure.
I have a lot of experience in working with diverse partners/stakeholders - from farmers, local communities, farming organisations, research organizations, NGOs, the European Commission, European Parliament, JRC, EEA, business leaders to government agencies, and am keen to further work with them.
I have the ability and keenness to travel to project countries and work in a multi-cultural environment.
I can effectively communicate (both orally and in writing) with different stakeholders, in Slovene, Serbian, Croatian, English and German.
