I have recently completed my PhD in Genetics and Plant Breeding at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. During my doctoral studies, I specialized in Gossypium arboreum, identifying and selecting highly promising arboreum genotypes with significant potential for the surgical industry. This work not only aims to boost yields but also holds the promise of increasing income for both the surgical industry and traditional farmers.
Furthermore, my research extended to the field of Peanut during my masters, where I explored the transferability of rice gene-tagged markers. This investigation underscores the valuable knowledge gained from functionally characterized genes in molecular model crops and the extensive reservoir of annotated orthologous genes found in 'Omics' databases. This skill set has broadened my capabilities, offering the potential to drive crop enhancement through the strategic pyramiding of desirable genes.
I believe my research and expertise in these areas align well with opportunities for innovation and advancement in the field of genetics and crop improvement.
